KOLAK is moving from concept to construction. The Silicon Valley-based label is preparing the first physical sample of Prototype 09.30 from its KOLAK DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT collection, with the sample set to be worked on by MOUS MOUS, the independent Los Angeles luxury label founded by designer Moustapha Diagne.

It marks a new stage for KOLAK's experimental design program: taking a concept out of the digital development process and into the hands of an experienced fashion maker.

09.30 — AN HOMAGE TO VIRGIL ABLOH

The September 30 introduction of Prototype 09.30 carries a meaning beyond its place in the collection. Conceived as an independent homage to the late Virgil Abloh, the project recognizes a creative outlook that challenged the boundaries between streetwear, luxury fashion, art and design.

KOLAK approaches that influence through its own Silicon Valley perspective: not by reproducing Abloh's work, but by embracing experimentation, collaboration, revision and the freedom to question what a garment can become.

The tribute is part of KOLAK's creative inspiration. Prototype 09.30 is not an official Virgil Abloh, Off-White or estate collaboration.

FROM SILICON VALLEY TO LOS ANGELES

Diagne's name carries a notable connection to the fashion world surrounding Ye (Kanye West). In April 2026, Complex reported that MOUS MOUS supplied a custom look for Ye's Los Angeles stadium performance and identified Diagne as having been credited as Ye's Senior Pattern Designer.

For KOLAK, that experience makes MOUS MOUS a compelling name to help bring the first Development Department sample into physical form. This is a KOLAK–MOUS MOUS development effort; Ye is not being announced as a participant.

PROTOTYPE 09.30: THE FIRST STEP

Initially introduced on September 30, Prototype 09.30 centers on a coordinated jacket-and-trouser concept in Natural/Bone, punctuated by red development stitching. The piece embodies the collection's central premise: design is not an instant result, but a chain of decisions, revisions and experiments.

Now the focus moves toward sampling—examining how the silhouette, proportions and details translate into a garment. The final execution has not yet been unveiled; the work is still in progress.

VISION → IDEA → BUILD.

The KOLAK DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT is an evolving design practice rather than a single finished drop. Its guiding statement, VISION → IDEA → BUILD, gives each prototype room to change before it reaches its final form.

Prototype 09.30 is the first piece in that process. More will be revealed as development continues.
