Format: Solo album

The Project

Spaceships on the Blade gives Larry June a substantial solo-album setting in 2022. Its title brings together two recurring sides of his persona: elevated ambitions and a distinctly Californian everyday vocabulary. The album follows 2 P’z in a Pod, which had placed June alongside Jay Worthy and LNDN DRGS in an explicitly collaborative lineup.

That shift in billing matters editorially. The earlier release is best understood as a meeting of collaborators; Spaceships on the Blade provides another checkpoint in June’s own album catalog. It also creates context for the next major producer partnership in this archive, The Great Escape with The Alchemist, which arrives in 2023.
